Jay Blankenau, a setter of the Canadian national team and Noliko Maaseik, has found a way out from a difficult situation, to trick the blocker and to score a point.

Three Romanian players banned for life from playing volleyball by FIVB as they were caught betting!

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) suspended three players from Romania for betting in the volleyball match in January in which their team was involved!

Three Romanian players, Alexandru Muscină (jersey No.12 on the photo), Alexandru Cerşemba (jersey No.6 on the photo) and Andrei Ursache, all members of CS Arcada Galați at the time, bet on the 2nd leg of the 16th Finals of the 2017 CEV Cup between their club and Serbian side Vojvodina NS Seme Novi Sad, on January 4.
Since they knew that Arcada will be highly weakened for the rematch, Muscină and Cerşemba proposed Ursache to use his card at „Betfair“ to make an online betting against their club. Since the FIVB gets an alert through the CIOs software whenever some of the players from its database try to bet, it caught them in an attempt to benefit from the volleyball match.
„We received a document from the International Volleyball Federation last month which informed us that Alexandru Muscină, Alexandru Cerşemba, and Andrei Ursache are temporarily suspended for manipulating results of the game. Still, a making of the final decision will be a bit delayed“ Gheorghe Vişan, the President of the Romanian Volleyball Federation (FRV), said for „Gazeta Sporturilor“.
„If the decision remains final, the three players risk one of the most drastic sanctions in sport, more severe than in football. The FIVB Regulations sets a fine of 50,000 to 150,000 euros and a suspension for at least five years for fixing the results of the matches. And if they get a lower fine, they still won’t be able to pay the entire amount, so they will no longer be able to play volleyball“ a source from the FRV explained.

“To be honest, I always wanted to become an NBA player. My favorite team at the moment is Cleveland. Favorite player – Vince Carter. In the 2000s, he was the king of the jumps. I really like Kazan. Everyone said that this is a great place. I did not think, it would be cool. My wife did not really want to return to Russia but after living here for two months, she said that Kazan is the only city in Russia in which we can live,” explains Igor Yudin.
Yudin arrived from Polish team Luczniczka Bydgoszcz to Kazan and signed a one-year deal with Zenit.
