1. Minimol Abraham

Minimol Abraham (born March 27, 1988) is a retired Indian female volleyball player and captain of the Indian women’s national volleyball team. She also competes in domestic league matches for the volleyball team India Railways. She is regarded as one of the best female volleyball players to have emerged from Kerala, alongside Aswani Kiran, Poornima, and Princy Joseph. In 2012, she was embroiled in a police investigation in which she was accused of being assaulted by three young men who reportedly knocked her down when she was driving, though the case was eventually dismissed as an accident. She was chosen to represent India at the 2010 Asian Games, her first Asian Games appearance, and was a member of the squad that finished ninth in the women’s team event. Minimol Abraham was appointed captain of the Indian national team in July 2018.

2. Priyanka Khedkar

Priyanka Khedkar (born November 1, 1984) is a former Indian volleyball player. She was a member of India’s women’s national volleyball team. She participated in both the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games. In 2010, she played for Indian Railways at the club level.

3. Aswani Kiran

Aswani Kiran (born 15 May 1985) is a retired Indian female volleyball player who captained the India women’s national volleyball team on a global scale. She was chosen to represent India at the 2010 Asian Games, captained the national team, and was a member of the squad that finished ninth in the women’s team event.

4. Nirmala Saini

Nirmala (born September 29, 1996) is a female Indian volleyball player. She participated in the U-19 Asian Championship in 2012, the U-19 Asian Championship in 2013, the U-19 Asian Championship in 2014, the 2014 Asian Games, the 2015 Asian Championship, the 2018 Asian Games, and the 2019 Asian Championship. She is assigned to a spot outside of the batter’s box. Milkha Singh, the “Flying Sikh,” later married Nirmal Saini. She lives in Chandigarh and is the mother of golfer Jeev Milkha Singh.

5. Anjali Babu

Anjali Babu (born August 5, 1997) is a volleyball player from India. She participated in the U-19 Asian Championships in 2014, 2018, and 2019.

6. Anju Balakrishnan

Anju Balakrishnan (born October 5, 1995) is a volleyball player from India. She took part in the U-19 Asian Championship in 2012, the Asian Championship in 2015, the Asian Games in 2018, and the Asian Championship in 2019.

7. Priyanka Bora

Priyanka Bora (born 7 January 1985 in Maharashtra, India) is a female volleyball player from India. She was a member of India’s women’s national volleyball team. She participated in the Asian Games in 2010. In 2010, she played for Indian Railways at the club level.

8. Jagmati Sangwan

Jagmati Sangwan, born 2 January 1960 in Sonipat, is an Indian activist and former Communist Party of India (CPI) member (M). She was a volleyball player who was a member of India’s bronze-medal winning team at the Asian Volleyball Championships. Sangwan is well-known in Haryana for her campaign against honour killings and khap panchayats. She was the General Secretary of the All India Democratic Women’s Association and a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), but she was expelled after opposing the coalition with the Indian National Congress in the 2016 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election. She has spoken out about honour killing and has begun a movement against female foeticide.

Sangwan left the CPI(M) during a central committee meeting in June 2016 to oppose seat-sharing with the Congress in West Bengal. She was immediately suspended for insubordination. Her parents worked on the dairy. She attended the Devi Lal Government’s Sports College for Women, which was established in 1978. She competed at the national level of volleyball. Jagmati Sangwan is married to Inderjit Singh, a former CPI State Secretary (M).

9. Soorya Thottangal

Soorya Thottangal (born August 23, 1989) was a female Indian volleyball player. She was a member of India’s women’s national volleyball team. She participated in the Asian Games in 2010. In 2010, she represented Kerala at the club level.
